Free webinar will explore coordinated state effort to transform maternity care

Following in the successful TMC Topics webinar series, Childbirth Connection will offer a webinar highlighting the work of the Louisiana Birth Outcomes Project with Project Director, Rebekah Gee, MD, MPH, FACOG. Dr. Gee will discuss the coordinated state-wide effort to create a culture of continuous quality improvement and safety in Louisiana’s birthing hospitals. The project involves tracking and reporting performance, implementing quality improvement toolkits, enhancing access to preventive care, and adopting best practices from high-performing maternity care systems.

Home birth summit seeks to create consensus among stakeholders

Planned home birth, while representing fewer than 1% of births in the United States, has generated intense and often polarizing debate in this country, even as elsewhere (e.g., Canada and the United Kingdom), efforts are underway to expand access to integrated home birth services. A grant from the Transforming Birth Fund has been designated for the purpose of convening a U.S. Home Birth Consensus Summit to find a rational path forward.

Leading employers launch bold payment reform initiative

Late last year, TMC Vision Team and Partnership Steering Committee member Suzanne Delbanco, PhD, was named Executive Director of Catalyst for Payment Reform, a collaboration among seven of the nation’s largest employers using their purchasing power to advocate for health care payment approaches that reduce costs and waste while spurring higher quality.
